A Halloween afternoon disco at Times Square featuring Gok Wan, live performance by Ellie Sax, and support from Mark Hutchinson & Tom Brodie.
Gok Wan is taking over Times Square on Saturday 31 October for a daytime Halloween disco. It's called Dead Disco, and it's a daytime affair, so the party starts while it's still light out rather than waiting for the night to kick in. The whole thing is billed as a full-scale production with outrageous costumes and live music, and it's part of Newcastle City Centre's wider Halloween programme, so it's one of several things happening across town that day.
On the music side, Gok Wan is on the decks playing disco and house anthems, with a live performance from Ellie Sax, who's known for her work with Ministry of Sound Classical. Mark Hutchinson and Tom Brodie are on support, so the dancing starts well before the main set. Between the disco, the house, and the live strings, it's a broad mix of dancefloor classics rather than one specific sound.

Because it's a daytime event, it's a bit of a different way to do Halloween — a party in the middle of the city centre while the shops are still open around you, rather than a club night that runs until the early hours. The costumes are a big part of the day, and the live performance from Ellie Sax adds something more than just a DJ set. It's all happening at Times Square in the city centre on 31 October, so you're right in the thick of things.
