Ginger Johnson brings her new show Show Pony to Northern Stage on Saturday 17 October, presented by Bound and Gagged Comedy. It's her first Newcastle date since her 2024 tour Ginger Johnson Blows Off!, and the new one is billed as high-camp, low-morals, whip-smart comedy backed by original songs. The premise follows her on a psychedelic adventure through her own mind in search of love, light and the 'little horse that got away'.
If you're not familiar with the name, Johnson is one of the UK's most celebrated drag queens, an award-winning performer, writer, presenter and cabaret artist. She won RuPaul's Drag Race UK series 5 and later took the MasterChef kitchen by storm as a Celebrity MasterChef champion. On screen, she created and starred in the BBC Three show Ginger's House (2024) and co-presented the digital breakfast show Wakey! (2020).

Show Pony runs for two hours including an interval, and it's recommended for ages 16 and over due to strong language. Tickets start from £31.00, and the show is in Stage 1 at Northern Stage, Barras Bridge, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 7RH.
