Art exhibition of printmaking and ceramic works by Newcastle Printmakers Workshop members, with an exhibition launch.
Windows on the Wetlands opens at the Hunter Wetlands Centre Artspace on Friday 24 July, with an exhibition launch on Saturday 25 July from 3.30pm to 5.00pm. It's a collection of printmaking and ceramic works by members of the Newcastle Printmakers Workshop, and the whole thing is presented by the Artspace.
The work comes from a small group of the workshop's members who spent time at the Wetlands over the last 18 months, creating pieces that reflect the site's biodiversity through a range of printmaking techniques. The printmakers involved are Alison Winn, Ardel Prout, Aurelia Nowak, Fiona Heard, Gina McDonald, Jenepher Surbey, Jennifer Wood, Juliet Ackery, Lynn Birchill, Melissa Murry and Tallulah Cunningham. Joining them are ceramicists Jenepher Surbey and Juliet Ackery, who bring 3D elements to the mix along with their own interest in colour, texture and textiles.

For a bit of background, the Newcastle Printmakers Workshop is based in Adamstown and describes itself as the longest-running open-access printmaking workshop in Australia. It's got strong ties to the local Newcastle community and to the Hunter Wetlands, so this exhibition sits right in its wheelhouse. The launch is on Saturday 25 July, 3.30pm to 5.00pm, at the Hunter Wetlands Centre Artspace, 1 Wetlands Pl, Shortland.
