A one-night-only guitar showcase presented by Mark Tinson, featuring a lineup of Australia's finest guitarists including Bob Spencer and Grant Walmsley.
Mark Tinson brings Tinno's Guitar Fest back to Flamingos Live in Lambton on Thursday 17 September. It's a one-night-only guitar showcase, and Tinson — billed as Newcastle's 'Godfather of Rock' — is the one presenting it.
The line-up gathers some of Australia's finest guitarists, most of them Newcastle locals who've played and recorded with some of the country's most iconic acts. Bob Spencer comes from the Angels, Skyhooks and Rose Tattoo; Grant Walmsley from the Screaming Jets; Dai Pritchard from Billy Thorpe and Rose Tattoo; Dave Hinds from Rabbit, Finch and Contraband; Justin Ngariki from Billy Thorpe and Rose Tattoo; and Pete Gray from The Mentals. There are special guests too: Adam Miller, Nick Raschke, Brien McVernon, Emily A Smith and Matt Semmens.
It's a wide-ranging list of players, and the Rose Tattoo connection runs through several of them. Tinson describes the night as a gathering of musicians he's worked with over the years, and he's said it's been a privilege to record, perform with and learn from these players throughout his music career. The whole thing is staged as a one-night-only event, so it's a single evening rather than a run of dates.
