Join Lucie for a 2-hour creative evening to make your own textured circle weaving wall hanging.
Lucie is running a texture fibre art workshop at Creative Village on Thursday 23 July, a two-hour creative evening in Newcastle where you'll make your own textured circle weaving wall hanging. It's a hands-on session, so you'll be working through the process and coming away with something finished to take home.
The focus is on texture, and that's where the circle weaving comes in. Rather than a traditional flat weave, you'll be building up a piece with different materials and techniques to give it depth and feel. It's a good way to get a handle on how to mix different fibres and build a composition from the centre out, and because it's a wall hanging, it's something you can actually hang up when you're done.
Lucie leads the whole thing, so she'll be there to walk you through the steps and help out as you go. It's a two-hour session, which gives you enough time to get into the flow of it without it becoming an all-day affair. If you've never tried weaving before, it's a straightforward place to start, and if you've already got some experience with fibre art, it's a chance to play with texture in a different format.
