Soul, blues and gospel live at the Baths, with a sunset community atmosphere, closing out the SOAK festival.
Karen Lee Andrews is playing the Newcastle Ocean Baths on Saturday 3 October, from 5:30pm to 6:30pm. It's a golden-hour performance that closes out the SOAK festival, built around music, storytelling and connection.
Andrews is an Australian blues and soul artist whose career spans more than two decades. She blends soul, blues, gospel and rock with her Polynesian heritage, backed by a seven-piece band. Her set draws on the songs of icons like Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin, and she's played festivals including Woodford Folk Festival, Queenscliff Music Festival, Blues at Broadbeach, Dashville Skyline and WOMAD. The Sydney Morning Herald called her 'one of the most original and dignified talents to emerge in Australian entertainment in a long time', and Beat Magazine described her as being on 'an inspiring and passionate musical journey'.
