A live spoken word evening responding to Cavitation, in partnership with Pocketbook.
The Lock-Up is hosting the Pocketbook Poetry Evening on Thursday 1 October, a live spoken word night in partnership with Pocketbook. The whole thing is a response to Cavitation, so if you've been following that, this is where it moves from the page to the stage.
It's a spoken word evening, which means the focus is on the voice and the performance rather than a reading. The poets will be responding to Cavitation, taking the themes and imagery from the work and working them out loud. Because it's a partnership with Pocketbook, the night sits right at the intersection of the published word and the live performance, with the poetry taking centre stage.

The evening runs from 5pm to 7pm, so it's an after-work thing rather than a late one. If you're coming from the city, it's at The Lock-Up, 90 Hunter Street, Muloobinba/Newcastle NSW 2300. It's a two-hour window, enough time for a proper line-up of readings without stretching too far into the night.
