Anniversary celebration at Nobbys Lighthouse with live music, creative workshops, live art, raffles and a sausage sizzle to raise funds for Lighthouse Arts.
Lighthouse Arts is holding an open day at Nobbys Lighthouse on Saturday 24 October, from 10am to 3pm. It's an anniversary celebration run by Hunter Writers' Centre and Lighthouse Arts, marking five years of creativity, connection and community at the organisation. The day is a fundraiser, with a A$10,000 goal in sight, and artwork raffled throughout the day to support their ongoing work.
Things kick off at 10am with speeches from local electorate members Tim Crakanthorp and Gavin Morris, and Lighthouse Arts Director Katherine McLean. From 11am to 3pm, the music comes from local musicians Craig Smith and Jordan Hunt, and there are two workshops to get stuck into: a Lantern Workshop with Ella Saul and a Paint Chip Collage Workshop with Leslie Duffin. Live art runs alongside, with Elloise Ansel doing live portraiture from 11am to 2pm and Ella Saul working on a live canvas painting. An all-day sausage sizzle and other fundraising activities keep the food and the money moving.
The venue is Nobbys Lighthouse, 41 Nobbys Road, Newcastle NSW 2300, on the Whibayganba-Nobbys headland. If you're not keen on the walk, a buggy runs from Macquarie Pier to the lighthouse to help you reach the headland. It's a family and pet friendly day, and disabled access is available.
