Legends of Motown

Legends of Motown comes to the Civic Theatre on Wednesday 17 February 2027, as part of the show's inaugural Australian tour. It's a tribute to the Motown songbook, the same one that's been playing across North America before it makes its way over here.

What sets it apart from a standard tribute night is the scale of the production. This isn't just a singer with a backing track; it's a full live band, a line-up of singers, and dancers on stage together. That means the songs are played live, with the choreography that went with them, rather than just a few people standing behind microphones. It's built around the Motown sound—the brass, the bass, and the vocal harmonies—and the dancing that went with it.

The show is billed as the definitive Motown tribute experience, and it's the first time it's toured Australia. It's a big production, and the Civic Theatre in Newcastle is one of the stops on that run. If you've got a soft spot for the Motown era, this is the one that brings the whole package—band, singers, and dancers—to the stage at once.

It's on Wednesday 17 February 2027 at the Civic Theatre, part of the show's first Australian tour.
