EARP Distillery Showcase One

EARP Distillery Showcase One is on at EARP Distilling Co. in Carrington this Saturday, 25 July, starting at 3:00pm. It's part of the Newcastle Comedy Festival, and it's one of two exclusive festival events taking over the distillery during the run.

The format is a rotating line-up of some of Australia's best comedians. The festival pulls from a few different tiers of the circuit: big names, rising stars and serious comedy talent, so the mix changes from one show to the next. It's not a single act carrying the whole afternoon; it's a sequence of different comics taking turns on stage, which means you get a few different styles in one sitting.

It's also a bit different from your usual comedy night. Rather than a traditional theatre setting, this one runs in the afternoon, and the distillery's food, drinks and atmosphere are part of the experience. You're in a working distillery in Carrington, not a black-box room, so it's as much about the venue as it is about the comedy. If you're more of a late-night gig person, this is a good way to get your comedy fix while it's still light out.

Tickets are A$45 plus a booking fee, and the show kicks off at 3:00pm on Saturday, 25 July, at EARP Distilling Co., 41 Darling St, Carrington.
