Colin Hay, former frontman of Men At Work, performs live at the Civic Theatre Newcastle as part of his special headline run in Australia.
Colin Hay plays the Civic Theatre Newcastle on Wednesday 18 November, starting at 19:00. The Newcastle date is part of a special Men At Work headline run across Australia.
If you know him from the 80s, it's as the frontman, principal songwriter and lead vocalist of Men At Work. They won a GRAMMY for Best New Artist and sold more than 30 million records worldwide, with number-one singles like "Who Can It Be Now?" and "Down Under" before calling it quits in 1985. Born in Scotland and moved to Australia as a teenager, Hay released his solo debut the year after the band split. He's recorded twelve more studio albums since then, and the reviews have kept coming: Rolling Stone called his pop "witty, hooky", and NPR World CafƩ pointed to his "distinctive voice". He's a regular on the late-night circuit, too, having appeared with David Letterman, Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel.

His latest solo album, Now And The Evermore (Lazy Eye/Compass Records), was written and recorded in Los Angeles and features a guest appearance from Ringo Starr. That's the record he's touring now, and the Newcastle show is one of the dates in this Men At Work headline run around the country. The set will be Colin Hay, with the 19:00 start at the Civic Theatre Newcastle, 375 Hunter St.
