Comedy whodunit Clue, adapted from the classic board game, at Civic Theatre.
Clue runs from 19 to 23 August at the Civic Theatre in Newcastle, playing in the Playhouse. It's a comedy whodunit based on the board game most of us grew up with, and it's being directed by Joshua Maxwell, with the script devised by Sandy Rustin.
If you know the game, you know the setup. The story is set at the home of Mr Boddy, where a dinner party brings together six unique guests, a butler, and a maid. Then the host turns up dead, and the rest is a scramble to figure out who did it. It's adapted from the cult classic film, so it's got that same campy, mystery-movie energy—the kind of thing where you're meant to be guessing along with the characters. The production describes it as a comedy that keeps you laughing right to the end, so it's as much about the jokes as it is about the crime.
