Fundraising breakfast marking 20 years of support for the Hunter region's breast care nurses, with speakers and raffles.
The Breast Care Breakfast is back at NEX Newcastle on Thursday 29 October, from 7:00am to 9:00am. It's a fundraising breakfast with speakers and raffles, and this year is a big one: it marks 20 years of community support for the breast care nurses of the Hunter Nurse Education Group across the Hunter region.
It started as a morning tea after the wife of a PKF Newcastle partner passed away, and it's grown from there into one of the region's largest and most recognised Breast Cancer Awareness Month events. All the funds raised stay right here in the region. Over two decades, it's raised more than A$450,000, which has gone towards 15 conferences and funded education, conference attendance, travel grants, professional development and nurse-led research projects.
Last year's 19th annual Breakfast drew over 450 people and raised A$68,299. That was also when the firm announced its first funded grants: the PKF Research Grant and the PKF Travel Grant, which together provided more than A$150,000 to local nurses, including a research grant of up to A$30,000 for nurse-led projects. This year's breakfast continues that work, with the funds going back to the nurses who care for people across the Hunter.

It's a breakfast, so it's an early start on a Thursday morning, and the money goes to the nurses working in our own backyard. You can find more details and book your spot at breastcarebreakfast.com.au.
