Australia's only adventure film tour bringing electrifying action sport films to the big screen, featuring elite skiers, climbers, kayakers and mountain bikers.
Adventure Reels is coming to Tower Cinemas on Wednesday 21 October, bringing a full session of action sport films to the big screen. It's Australia's only homegrown adventure film tour, and the Newcastle stop is part of its run across the country.
The format is a collection of short films rather than one long feature. Each one is picked to take things a bit further, wilder, higher and harder than the last, following some of the world's elite skiers, climbers, kayakers and mountain bikers. It's the kind of thing that works best on a big screen — wide shots of mountains and open water that you'd miss on a laptop or phone, and the sound of a bike or a board hitting the dirt filling the room. The whole session runs for about two and a half hours, so it's a proper night in rather than a quick stop.
If you're into any of those sports, it's a good way to see a few different disciplines in one sitting. You'll get the skiers and climbers alongside the kayakers and mountain bikers, and because it's a tour of shorts, the pace keeps moving. The session is built around that high-octane energy, and the two-and-a-half-hour runtime gives it plenty of room to breathe.
