Concert by Australian fingerstyle guitarist Adam Miller at The Grand Hotel.
Adam Miller is playing The Grand Hotel on Tuesday 13 October, starting at 8:00 pm. He's a Newcastle fingerstyle guitarist, and this is a solo show, so it's just him and the guitar on stage.
If you're not familiar with his work, Miller's style is fingerstyle, where he plays the bass, chords, and melody all at once on a single guitar. He's often compared to Charlie Hunter, Tuck Andress, Julian Lage and Tommy Emmanuel, so you've got a good sense of the territory he covers. He won the Australian Fingerstyle Guitar Championship back in 2002, and he's been recording ever since. His eighth solo album, Beyond Reason, came out on 28 April 2023 on Charlie Hunter's SideHustle Records, so there's relatively recent material to draw from alongside his older stuff.
Outside of his own records, he works as a session player, producer, mix and master engineer, and university educator. He's toured internationally and shared stages with a long list of names: Les Paul, Tommy Emmanuel, Adam Levy, Matt Schofield, Mason Stoops, Josh Smith, Joey Landreth, Russell Morris, Ariel Posen and Tony McManus. He also has a signature guitar, the Adam Miller Redwood Rietbergen from Nik Huber Guitars.
