Free outdoor yoga classes taught by a Downtown YMCA instructor at Church Street Park, designed to strengthen the body and reduce stress.
Church Street Park is hosting a series of free outdoor yoga classes this October, with sessions running from 6 PM to 7 PM. They're spread across the month: Thursday the 15th and 22nd, Tuesday the 20th and 27th, and Thursday the 29th. Each one is an hour, and since they're all free, you can drop in for one or make a habit of it.
A Downtown YMCA instructor leads every class. The sessions are built to strengthen and tone the body, increase flexibility and reduce stress, so they're as much about winding down as they are about moving. You'll need your own mat, though there are some to borrow at the park if you don't have one. It's also a good idea to bring sunscreen, a towel and water.
Because it's all outdoors, the schedule depends on the weather. If a session gets rained out, updates go to the Church Street Park Instagram stories, so keep an eye on those before you head downtown. The program is put together by the Nashville Downtown Partnership and Metro Parks Nashville, with support from Amazon.
