Indie folk and Americana band The 502s perform live at The Basement in Nashville.
The 502s play The Basement on Monday, October 12, with the show starting at 7 PM. They're an indie folk and Americana band from Maitland and Orlando, Florida, fronted by Nicholas Melashenko alongside Joe Capati, Ed Isola, Matthew Tonner and Sean Froehlich. It's a full five-piece on stage, and they're the only act on the bill.
Critics describe their sound as an ebullient blend of boisterous Americana, built around cheery singalong vocals, bubbly trumpet lines, melodic call-and-response choruses and roots-music instrumentation. The trumpet is a good detail to keep in mind—it's one of the things that sets them apart from a standard folk setup. The band gained wider attention when a TikTok video of their song "Magdalene" racked up more than a million views, and that's a good place to start if you're not yet familiar with them.
