Soul-blues guitarist and singer Eddie 9V performs live at The Basement East, showcasing his blend of Southern soul, blues, rock and funk.
Eddie 9V plays The Basement East on Thursday, December 10. He's a Georgia-born soul-blues guitarist and singer who picked up his first guitar at age six and set his course after seeing Howlin' Wolf at the 1966 Newport Folk Festival.
He's been putting out records with a steady rhythm. He wrote, produced, and played every instrument on his 2019 debut, Left My Soul In Memphis, then followed it with Little Black Flies in 2021 and Capricorn in 2023, which he recorded at Capricorn Studios in Macon. In 2024 came Saratoga, a raw, road-ready blend of Southern soul, blues, rock, and funk that pushed him from cult favorite to national spotlight and grew his monthly Spotify listeners from 8,000 to over 800,000. The tracks "Halo," "Saratoga," and "Love Moves Slow" were certified on SiriusXM's Spectrum channel.
Signed to Dan Auerbach's Easy Eye Sound, his 2025 album DOWN HERE came out of sessions Auerbach shepherded at Easy Eye Sound Studios here in Nashville, with guest guitarist Marcus King and songwriters Pat McLaughlin and Daniel Tashian. It draws on soul, blues, country, gospel, and folk. He's already gearing up for another album in 2026.
