A relaxing weekend retreat by the Cumberland River featuring Adirondack chairs, skyline views, and lawn games at Riverfront Park.
Riverfront Retreat is running at Riverfront Park from Friday, Oct 9 through Tuesday, Oct 20, 2026, with the park open from 8 AM to 8 PM each day. It's a low-key setup on the north side of the park, right along the Cumberland River, where Adirondack chairs are lined up facing the water. You can sink into one and watch the riverboats pass by, with the downtown skyline as your backdrop. There are lawn games out too, so it's as much about hanging out as it is about the view.
Because it's an outdoor arrangement, the chairs only go out when the weather holds. They aren't put out during inclement or adverse conditions, so if the forecast looks rough, it's worth checking before you head down. On a clear day, though, it's one of the easiest ways to spend a few hours by the river without needing a plan.
