Austin, Texas roots rock band Nik Parr & The Selfless Lovers perform live at Chief's on Broadway.
Nik Parr & The Selfless Lovers bring their roots rock to Chief's on Broadway on Sunday, October 11. They're an Austin, Texas band, and the front man, Nik Parr, does something you don't see every night: he plays saxophone and piano at the same time. It's a high-energy, piano-driven sound that pulls from a few different places at once.
They describe it as a mix of Bruce Springsteen's raw passion and Jerry Lee Lewis's showmanship, with New Orleans late-night revelry, Southern soul, and a Texas Gulf Coast groove all in there. It's a lot of ground to cover, but that's the point—it's roots rock that doesn't sit still. If you're into piano-led bands that can actually move, this is right in that wheelhouse.
They're a working band, playing more than 150 shows a year. Over that time they've shared the stage with a long list of roots acts: Marc Broussard, Rebirth Brass Band, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Black Joe Lewis, The Soul Rebels, Dumpstaphunk, The Heavy Heavy, Shinyribs, The Damn Quails, Eddie 9 Volt, and Two Tons of Steel. That's a wide spread of brass, soul, and rock and roll, and it gives you a good sense of the company they keep.

There's also new material in the mix. Nik's EP American Lover Boy, produced by Low Cut Connie, was set for release in Spring 2026, so this show comes well after it's been out. The set is just the band, with Nik Parr & The Selfless Lovers as the sole bill. The show starts at 7 PM at Chief's on Broadway, 200 Broadway, and tickets are $25, all ages.
