A beginner-friendly, hands-on needle felting class where participants create a three-inch needle-felted pumpkin to take home.
Cheekwood Botanical Gardens & Estate is hosting a needle felting class on Saturday, October 10, at 2 PM. It's a beginner-friendly, hands-on session where you'll make a three-inch needle-felted pumpkin to take home. If you've never tried felting before, this is a good place to start: you'll spend the afternoon working with wool and a felting needle to shape your own little pumpkin from scratch.
The class is held in the Gerry Burklow Frist Learning Center Studios, which is part of the larger Cheekwood grounds. That's 1200 Forrest Park Drive in Nashville. It's a good spot to spend a Saturday afternoon, especially this time of year when the gardens are in full autumn mode.
For context, Cheekwood is a 55-acre botanical garden and art museum on the historic Cheek estate. The house was built in 1929 as the home of Leslie and Mabel Cheek, and it's still considered one of the finest examples of an American Country Place Era estate. The gardens and the museum are open to the public, so if you're arriving early or want to hang around after the class, there's plenty to see beyond the studio.
