Tenth annual neighbourhood festival in West Nashville featuring local businesses, art, vendors, food trucks and live entertainment.
Light the Nations returns to 51st Ave N on Saturday, October 17, from 10 AM to 4 PM. It's the neighborhood festival for The Nations in West Nashville, and this year marks its tenth anniversary. The day brings together local businesses, vendors, food trucks, and live music along the stretch.
If you've been around the area for a while, you can see how much the festival has grown alongside the neighborhood. When it started in 2016, The Nations barely had a sidewalk-level identity—it was more a row of destinations than a place to linger. Now, the festival unfolds around a 393-unit construction site, three new corners of retail, and the reinvested anchors that have become local institutions. It's a neighborhood main street now, and the festival is the day that puts it on full display.
The area's visual anchor is the Guido Van Helten silo mural on the west side, painted in 2016 and depicting longtime resident Lee Estes. The weekend also includes the Firefly 5K and One-Mile Fun Run, both starting and ending at West Park. If you're looking to get involved with the neighborhood beyond the festival, the Nations Neighbourhood Association meets on the last Monday of most months at Fat Bottom Brewing, which has become the association's de facto living room.
