Solo-acoustic, nonpartisan voter registration and civic engagement tour featuring King Youngblood at Vanderbilt University.
King Youngblood plays Vanderbilt University on Tuesday, October 13, as part of the Make Your Voice Heard Loud & Vote Tour. It's a solo-acoustic set, and the show is free.
Behind the name is Cameron Lavi-Jones, who founded the project and has been driving it across the country since 2018. The tour is nonpartisan and focused on voter registration and civic engagement, with Lavi-Jones booking pop-up shows at colleges—particularly in purple states and those with low youth voter turnout—to encourage young people to make their voices heard, starting with voting but not ending there. He describes the tour as an intersection of art and activism, rooted in the emphasis on voting his grandmother passed down to him.
Lavi-Jones brings a lean setup to these dates: a handful of acoustic guitars, a small PA, and a generator. He's the son of former Black Panther Maurice Jones Jr., and he studied communications at the University of Washington, where he focused on BIPOC social justice and the democratization of media. During the 2020 Capitol Hill protests, he was one of the founders of the podcast The Revolution Will Be Harmonized.

The Vanderbilt show is at 12 PM, so it's a midday stop rather than an evening one. It's free to attend, and the tour's focus on voter registration will be there alongside the music.
