Australian indie-folk singer-songwriter Julia Jacklin performs live at Brooklyn Bowl Nashville, supported by Jordan Patterson.
Julia Jacklin plays Brooklyn Bowl Nashville on Saturday, November 7, as part of her North American tour. She's an Australian singer-songwriter who moved from Sydney to Melbourne in 2017 and has spent the years since building her following on a string of solo records: Don't Let the Kids Win in 2016, Crushing in 2019, and PRE PLEASURE in 2022.
This tour centers on her fourth album, The Gem, which she recorded at Rat Shack studios in Collingwood with Robert Muinos, Jacob Diamond, Mimi Gilbert, and Jess Elwood. The record turns up songs like "Brand New," "Real Life," and "The Hardest Thing," and closes with "I Wish," a lullaby she wrote for her younger self and recorded with her siblings Elsie and Maggie Rigby of The Maes. To mark the sessions, she and the band got matching opal tattoos.
Opening the night is Jordan Patterson, a 24-year-old singer-songwriter and producer from the San Fernando Valley. He released the EP Songs from a Valley Girl on Secretly Canadian, working with producers Eric Van Thyne, John Debold, Henry Kwapis, and Kali Flanagan.
