Community health initiative with live music from resident DJ Smoke in the NMAAM lobby, featuring music, movement and wellness vendors.
DJ Smoke is back in the lobby of the National Museum of African American Music on Saturday, October 17, for another edition of Heartbeat Saturdays. It's part of a larger run that takes over the NMAAM lobby every Saturday through October and November, so if you miss this one, there are plenty more to choose from.
Heartbeat Saturdays is the museum's community health initiative, and the whole thing is built around getting people's hearts pumping and their feet grooving. Each session turns the lobby into a space centered on music, movement, and community, with resident DJ Smoke providing the soundtrack. It's not just about the music, eitherโlocal health and wellness vendors are on hand alongside the DJ, so you can check in on your well-being while you're there. The series is presented in collaboration with The Lab Training Studio and Antioch Run Club.

It's free and open to the public, which makes it an easy one to drop into on a Saturday morning. Just keep in mind that general museum gallery admission isn't included, so if you want to see the exhibits, that's a separate ticket. The session runs from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM at 510 Broadway, right in the heart of downtown Nashville. If you can't make it on the 17th, the series continues with sessions on October 24 and 31, and then through November 7, 14, 21, and 28โall at the same time and place.
