Kid-friendly programming, family tours, multisensory gallery experience and Martin ArtQuest at the Frist Art Museum.
Frist Family Sunday returns to the Frist Art Museum on Sunday, October 11, with a full afternoon of kid-friendly programming. It's one of those days where the museum opens up specifically for families, so it's a good time to bring the kids along without worrying about keeping them quiet in the galleries.
The day is built around a few different activities. There are family tours that walk you through the current exhibitions, and a multisensory gallery experience that lets kids engage with the art in ways that go beyond just looking. There's also Martin ArtQuest, the museum's dedicated space for kids to create their own work.
If you're not sure how to approach a museum with children, this is a low-pressure way to do it. The tours give you a starting point, and the multisensory experience and ArtQuest let the kids move and make things rather than just standing still. You can do as much or as little as you want, and the whole thing is designed for families to move through together.
