First Fridays program featuring the 'Artifact Highlight: Indigenous Pottery' session, open to all ages with advance registration required.
First Fridays are back at the Tennessee Agricultural Museum this fall, and the November session is Artifact Highlight: Indigenous Pottery. It runs from 10 AM to 11 AM on Friday, November 6, at the museum's 404 Hogan Road location in Nashville.
If you're not familiar with the series, the museum sets aside one morning a month to bring visitors closer to its collections. It runs as a cycle of themed sessions, so the November highlight follows Painting with Pumpkins in October. Each one focuses on a different part of the museum's holdings, and they're open to all ages—from big kids to little ones—so it's an easy thing to do with the family.
This particular session centers on Indigenous pottery, pulling a specific piece or group of pieces from the collection and giving them the spotlight for the hour. It's a chance to see something from the museum's archives that might otherwise stay tucked away, and to hear a bit more about it than you'd get from a label on a wall. If you've spent time at the museum before, this is a good way to see a side of the collection you might have missed.
