Drop-in workshop for all ages in which aspiring young designers make and decorate their own paper cowboy hats inspired by those on view at the Museum.
Hip Hats is a family program at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum on Sunday, November 8, from 10 AM to 12 PM. It's a drop-in activity held in the Taylor Swift Education Center, so you don't need to be there right at the start to get in on it.
The whole thing centers on the cowboy hat, which has been a signature part of the look for countless artists and musicians throughout country music history. If you've spent any time in the Museum, you've seen them—they're on view across the galleries, from the early days to the present. The program takes those hats as a starting point: aspiring young designers make and decorate their own paper versions, drawing on the ones they've seen throughout the building.
Because it's a drop-in session, it's easy to work around. You can spend the morning wandering the Museum and then stop by the Taylor Swift Education Center when you're ready to sit down and create. The activity is open to all ages, so it works whether you're bringing a toddler or a teenager.
