A drama day for students to explore storybook adventures through theatre games, character creation and guided improvisation.
Drama Day - Storybook Adventure is happening at Nashville Children's Theater on Friday, October 9. It's a day for students to get into theater through games and improvisation, all built around the idea of storybook adventures.
The whole thing takes its cue from beloved picture books and gentle woodland tales. From there, students work through theater games, character creation, and guided improvisation. The focus is on friendship, problem-solving, and imaginative storytelling—the kind of things you'd expect to find in a children's book, brought to life on stage. Along the way, the goal is to build confidence, collaboration, and creative expression, so it's as much about working together as it is about acting.
It's a hands-on session, not a performance to watch, so the kids are the ones doing the work. They'll spend the day stepping into different roles and figuring out how to tell a story on their feet, with the woodland themes serving as the starting point. If you've got a student who loves stories or just likes to make things up, this is exactly the kind of thing they'd enjoy.
