Aquila Theatre presents a bold new adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic thriller, exploring the duality of human nature through dynamic physical storytelling and immersive performance.
Aquila Theatre brings Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde to the James K. Polk Theater on Saturday, January 30, 2027. It's a new adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic thriller, built around the company's signature blend of dynamic physical storytelling, inventive staging and exceptional performances. The production leans into the duality of human nature, following Dr. Henry Jekyll's perilous experiments and the emergence of his sinister alter ego, Mr. Edward Hyde, to explore good versus evil, repression and the dark corners of the human psyche set against a Victorian-era mystery.
Aquila Theatre has spent more than three decades reimagining classic literature and drama for contemporary audiences, with renowned productions of Shakespeare, Greek classics and literary adaptations. This one fits that pattern: they're taking a well-known story and reworking it through their own lens rather than sticking to a traditional staging. The production combines live percussion, visual storytelling and immersive performance, with live action, music and visual elements designed for audiences of all ages. Each tour stop adapts to its venue while preserving the show's signature style, so the Polk Theater version will be tailored to the space.
