A city-wide celebration of all things dog with a Doggie Fun Zone, Kids Zone, dog costume contests, live music, food trucks and vendor village.
Dog Day returns to Centennial Park on Saturday, October 17, from 10 AM to 4 PM. It's the Nashville Humane Association's city-wide celebration of all things dog, and it's been running for more than 30 years. This year they're billing it as bigger and better than ever.
There's a lot to do throughout the day. The Tito's Doggie Fun Zone is for the dogs, and the Kids Zone is full of carnival games and inflatables. There's a Beverage Garden serving beer and cocktails, live music, food trucks, and a vendor village with booths for both dogs and people. One of the main draws is the dog costume contest, where you can dress up your dog and enter them for a chance to win. Between the activities, you'll find adoptable shelter dogs looking for their forever homes, so it's as much about meeting a new pet as it is about hanging out with the one you already have.
The day is run by the Nashville Humane Association, which was incorporated in 1946 to protect the well-being of animals in Davidson County. That makes it one of the oldest service organizations in the city, and its work centers on finding responsible homes, controlling pet overpopulation, and promoting the humane treatment of animals. All proceeds from the festival go toward supporting the shelter pets in their care.
