Dinosaur Jr. headline their Spring Tour 2027 at Brooklyn Bowl Nashville, with Starcrawler as the opening act.
Dinosaur Jr. play Brooklyn Bowl Nashville on Friday, February 26, 2027, as part of their spring tour. They're touring There Near, their sixth studio album in 20 years, which they recorded over a year at Amherst's Bisquiteen Studio. The record was tracked almost entirely by the core trio: Murph on drums, Lou Barlow on bass and vocals, and J Mascis on guitar and vocals, with Ken Mauri adding piano and organ.
There's a bit of gear history behind the sound. Mascis plays through a '70s Mesa Boogie MK I amp, the same one Chris Dixon used when the band recorded their first album. He writes in the third person and has admitted he isn't always sure what a song is "about" when he writes it. The result is what they're known for: loose vocals, sharp guitars, and an animalistic rhythm section. They're often credited with inventing the noise-pop formula that Nirvana later popularised.
Opening for them is Starcrawler, a five-piece LA rock band fronted by Arrow de Wilde. They've won the admiration of Shirley Manson, Elton John, Iggy Pop, Jack White, and Dave Grohl, and have opened for Beck, Foo Fighters, and Spoon.
