A nature program for ages five and up at the Beaman Park Nature Center, focusing on environmental education.
Colors of the Ridgetop is a nature program at Alvin G. Beaman Park on Thursday, October 15, from 10 AM to 12 PM. It's open to ages five and up, so it works as a morning out with kids or just a slow start to the day if you're on your own.
The session is run by the Beaman Park Nature Center, an environmental education and recreation facility operated by the Nashville Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation. The center sits inside the city's Western Highland Rim Forest, which is the setting for the program. It serves as the jump-off point for more than 2,300 acres of the Beaman Park State Natural Area, an expanse that includes over 15 miles of hiking trails, a pollinator garden, environmental education programs, and school field trips.
Because the center is the gateway to that larger natural area, the program puts you right on the edge of the forest. If you've spent any time in the park, you know the scale of itโthose 15 miles of trails run through the Highland Rim, and the pollinator garden is one of the spots where the center's educational work is most visible. The center's role is to connect the public to that landscape, and this session is part of that ongoing effort.
