A family program where visitors create their own inventive microphone using colour, gems and sequins, then pose for a photo behind the iconic Grand Ole Opry microphone stand.
Adorn a Microphone is a family program at the Taylor Swift Education Center on Friday, October 16, from 10 AM to 12 PM. It's held inside the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum at 222 Rep. John Lewis Way S in downtown Nashville.
The session is built around a simple, hands-on project: you and your kids build your own inventive microphone using color, gems, sequins, and whatever creativity you bring to the table. Once the decorating is done, there's a photo op waiting—you get to strike a pose behind the iconic Grand Ole Opry microphone stand. It's recommended for ages 5 and up, so it works best with kids who can handle the glue and the sequins without too much help.
There's a bit more to it than just the craft, too. The program was created in partnership with Ryman Hospitality Properties as a way to recognize and celebrate the Grand Ole Opry, and it runs in support of the exhibition Country's Grandest Stage: The Opry at 100. If you've been following that show, this is a way to let the kids get their hands on a piece of that history rather than just looking at it from behind a rope.
