Opening reception and holiday gifts fair with 35 local artists and 37 makers, with the exhibition on view through May 2027.
Where We Find Joy opens at the Cora McCorvey Health & Wellness Center on Saturday, December 5, with a reception from 1 PM to 3 PM. It's a group fine art exhibition featuring original work from 35 local artists, all working around the same question: where does joy show up in everyday life? The show runs from that opening day all the way through May 31, 2027, so if you can't make the reception, you've got months to catch it later.
Each artist takes a different angle on the theme. Some look at connection and memory, others at humor, beauty, friendship, family, nature, and resilience. It's a broad reach, and that's the point—the joy they're talking about isn't just the big, loud moments, but the smaller, quieter things that happen in the middle of a normal day. With 35 different perspectives in one room, you'll see a lot of different ways of answering the same question.
Running alongside the reception is a Holiday Gifts Fair, which brings in another 37 makers. It's set up as a low-barrier entry point for creatives who are new to vending or just looking to connect with the community during the holiday season. The organizers provide free booth space, and the makers keep 100% of their sales, with priority given to those aged 50 and over. It's a good way to find something handmade from a local maker while you're there for the art.
