Grammy Award-winning London saxophonist Venna plays The Fine Line in Minneapolis with special guest Khalil.
Venna plays Fine Line on Tuesday, November 24, with special guest Khal!l. He's a Grammy Award-winning saxophonist from London, and this is his first time playing the city since his debut album, MALIK, came out on September 5, 2025.
That record is a big, collaborative piece of work. Venna sings on it himself, and he brings in a wide range of voices: Jorja Smith, Cari, Leon Thomas, Smino, and MIKE. The instrumental side is just as crowded, with Yussef Dayes, Rocco Palladino, Elijah Fox, and Marco Bernardis all playing their parts. It's the kind of album that pulls from a few different places at once—jazz, bossa nova, R&B, soul, and rap—and the live set should follow that same lead.
Before MALIK, Venna spent a lot of time as a session player. He's worked with Burna Boy, Beyoncé, Kali Uchis, Wizkid, Knucks, and J Hus, so he's used to fitting into a lot of different rooms. This show is his own night, though, and the set will be built around his own material. Khal!l opens the bill.
