Free learn-to-play session for the board game Ticket to Ride at Roxy's Cabaret, with staff on hand to help new players.
Roxy's Cabaret is hosting an Ultimate Game Night on Wednesday, October 21, from 7 PM to 11 PM, with the whole evening built around Ticket to Ride. If you've never played, it's a cross-country train adventure: you collect cards for different train cars to claim railway routes connecting cities across North America or Europe. Longer routes earn more points, and you get extras for fulfilling Destination Tickets and for building the longest continuous railway. It's quick to pick up—about 15 minutes of rules followed by an hour of play for two to five players—and the European edition adds a layer of strategy to the mix. The night features learn-to-play sessions for both Ticket to Ride and Ticket to Ride Europe, so you can walk in knowing nothing and walk out with a game under your belt.
That's the main event, but the room is full of other things to do. Roxy's puts out a wide array of classics and modern hits—Monopoly and Scrabble alongside Catan and The Game of Things—so you can switch gears whenever you like. There's also a giant LED wall where you can sign up to play Mario Kart, and staff are on hand to help new players get started if you're feeling a bit rusty. If you already own a copy of Ticket to Ride, you're welcome to bring it along to help others learn.

It's a free night, and the bar is open for drinks while you play. If you can't make this one, there's another session on Wednesday, December 16, from 7 PM to 11 PM. You'll find it at Roxy's Cabaret, 1333 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis, MN 55403.
