Free public guided tours led by a Mia curator through Titus Kaphar's exhibition 'Exhibiting Forgiveness'.
Titus Kaphar's Exhibiting Forgiveness is on view at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, and starting Tuesday, October 27, the museum is adding guided tours to the mix. A Mia curator will lead these walks through the exhibition, putting the work in context as you go. The tours run daily from Tuesday, October 27, through Friday, November 20, from 1 PM to 2 PM, and they're free.
Kaphar is an American artist born in 1976, and Exhibiting Forgiveness draws on his early life and coming of age to ask how art can help heal generational trauma. A selection of paintings made specifically for the show's companion feature-length film immerses the viewer in a process of recognition, understanding, and acceptance that parallels the film's protagonist's journey to adulthood. Kaphar's screenplay follows a father and son who reunite after years of estrangement and their choices about how to make peace with the past; a book of the same name documents the film's development from script to screen.

The tours are led by a Mia curator who puts the work in context, and the exhibition itself runs from September 10, 2026, to January 3, 2027, so you can still catch the show on your own if you can't make the tour dates. The guided sessions take place in the Bell Family Decorative Arts Court (333) at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, 2400 Third Avenue South, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55404. They run daily from Tuesday, October 27, to Friday, November 20, from 1 PM to 2 PM, and they're free.
