Week 3 of the Sounds From Planet IE residency, with a drone set by American Cream Band and a percussion-driven session by Shawn Walker and members of IE.
American Cream Band and drummer Shawn Walker play Berlin on Sunday, October 18, as part of the Sounds From Planet IE residency. It's week three of the series, which is presented by KFAI.
The night is split into two distinct sets. American Cream Band brings a special drone set, and Shawn Walker leads a percussion-driven exploration with Nate Nelson and members of IE. The two halves sit on opposite ends of the same spectrum: one held in a long, sustained hum, the other built on rhythm and movement.
That's the core of the residency itself. The experimental group IE curates the Sunday nights at Berlin, bringing in new artists each week. They describe their own sound as hypnotic minimalism, ranging from meditative drone to groove-based psychedelia, and the Sounds From Planet IE series follows that same line. If you've caught the first couple of weeks, this is the third installment in the run.
