18+ post-metal show by the Twin Cities trio onlytime, with Hillhaven and MVRROW, at the 7th St Entry.
onlytime play 7th St Entry on Tuesday, October 20, with Hillhaven and MVRROW opening. It's a Twin Cities power trio, and they describe their sound as post-metal that blends atmospheric melody with sludged-out riff worship, drawing across genres from dream pop and post-hardcore to post-rock and post-metal. That's a wide net to cast, but it gives you an idea of the ground they cover—the atmospheric side pulling from the softer, more melodic end and the sludged-out riffs bringing the weight.
They share the bill with Hillhaven, fronted by Chris Kelly, Zach Moiser, and Jaime GoWell, who bring together former members of Ice Nine Kills and From Ashes to New. MVRROW is an alternative metal band formed in Minnesota's Brainerd Lakes Area in 2019. Between the three, the night leans heavily into the heavier side of things, with onlytime's post-metal sitting at the center.
7th St Entry is the smaller room attached to First Avenue. It's been open as a performance space since 1980, and it was once the venue's restaurant area, known as the Greyhound Cafe. It's a good spot for a bill like this—close enough to the stage to feel the riffs, and small enough that the atmospheric parts don't get lost.
