Free artist talk with Ziba Rajabi in conversation with Katayoun Amjadi, part of the exhibition 'Ziba Rajabi: Belly Laugh at a Funeral'.
Ziba Rajabi will be in conversation with artist Katayoun Amjadi at the Minneapolis Institute of Art on Sunday, October 18, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The talk is part of Rajabi's exhibition, Belly Laugh at a Funeral, which is on view at the museum through October 21. Rajabi is showing through the Minnesota Artists Exhibition Program (MAEP), and the exhibition is supported by RBC Wealth Management.
During the hour, Rajabi and Amjadi will talk about the work on display. It's a conversation between two artists, so you'll hear Rajabi speak about her own practice rather than just listening to a curator or a moderator walk you through the show. If you've already spent some time with the exhibition, it's a chance to hear the artist put words to what you've seen. If you haven't yet, it's a good way to get oriented before you walk through the galleries.
Once the conversation wraps up, Rajabi and Amjadi will head over to the U.S. Bank Gallery to meet guests and answer questions. That's the part where you can actually talk to them and ask about specific pieces or the process behind them, so if you have a question that didn't come up during the talk, that's your window. It's a nice way to move from listening to a conversation to being part of one.
