Cabaret night of haunting, macabre and naughty songs hosted by Doug Anderson with Lori Dokken on piano.
Doug Anderson is back at the Dunsmore Jazz Room on Monday, October 26, with Macabaret 2, a cabaret show that leans into the darker side of the songbook. He's hosting the night, and the billing describes it as a collection of "wonderfully haunting, macabre, sinister and naughty songs to bring out the devil in you." It's a theme that fits the late-October date, and the setlist follows suit.
He's not on his own for this one. Lori Dokken is on piano, and they're backed by Nate Babbs on drums and Ben Kelly on bass. With a full rhythm section behind him, the show has a proper band feel rather than just a singer and a piano, which gives the cabaret format a bit more room to stretch.
