Country singer-songwriter Jess Williamson performs live at the Fine Line in Minneapolis as part of her 2027 headline tour.
Jess Williamson plays Fine Line on Saturday, January 23, 2027. It's a stop on her 2027 headline tour, which also hits Irving Plaza in New York, Thalia Hall in Chicago, The Sinclair in Boston, and Pacific Electric in Los Angeles.
She's touring her sixth studio album, A Mile South of Heaven, which came out October 9 on New West Records. Shooter Jennings produced it at Studio 3 in Los Angeles, and the sound is built around pedal steel, fiddle, and banjo. The twelve songs touch on success, home, relationships, grief, and identity. The new single, "Hum of the City," comes from her checking into the same hotel room she'd stayed in years earlier, just before a major breakup.
Williamson is a Texas native who grew up in Dallas and now splits her time between Los Angeles and Marfa, experimenting with country and western sounds. NPR called her voice "tender and mournful," and Pitchfork praised her "teardrop voice and audacious candor," likening her to "Lana by way of Lucinda while sounding Texas to the bone."
