Closing reception for Jack Ketchum's exhibition 'It's Too Late' at Q.arma Building.
Jack Ketchum's exhibition It's Too Late is running at the Q.arma Building in Northeast Minneapolis through October 30, and the closing reception is the last chance to see it in person. The show opened on October 8 and has been on view since, so if you've been meaning to get over there, this is your final window.
Ketchum describes the work as a look at the epic failures and inconvenient truths of American society, starting with Minneapolis. It's a heavy premise, and he doesn't sugarcoat what he's getting at. He even adds a warning about the possible side effects of spending time with the work: shaking knees, tears of rage, and an existential crisis. Whether you take that as a literal warning or a bit of dark humor, it sets the tone for what you'll find on the walls.
If you've been following the show since it opened, you know it's more than just the art on the walls. There was an opening reception on Thursday, October 8, from 6 to 8 PM, and an artist talk on October 15 from 6 to 7 PM, where Ketchum spoke about the work. The closing reception on Friday, October 30, is the final event of the run.
