Musical adaptation of Alison Bechdel's graphic novel, directed by Luke Peterson and staged by Morris Park Players.
Morris Park Players are bringing Fun Home to the Center for Performing Arts from November 6 to 22, 2026. It's the musical adaptation of Alison Bechdel's graphic novel, with music by Jeanine Tesori and book and lyrics by Lisa Kron. The story starts when the graphic novelist Alison's father dies unexpectedly, and she dives into her past to tell the story of the volatile, brilliant, one-of-a-kind man whose temperament and secrets defined her family and her life.
It's a show that moves between past and present. Alison relives a childhood spent playing at the family's Bechdel Funeral Home, her growing understanding of her own sexuality, and the looming, unanswerable questions about her father's hidden desires. It's described as a refreshingly honest, wholly original musical about seeing your parents through grown-up eyes. The show premiered at The Public Theater in New York City on October 22, 2013, and opened on Broadway at Circle in the Square Theatre on April 19, 2015, both directed by Sam Gold.
This production is directed by Luke Peterson, with music direction by Joey Leibig. The cast features Elyssa Bickford as Adult Alison, Laura Breyen as Medium Alison, and Maia Kelly as Small Alison, with Christian LaBissoniere playing Bruce. Margaret Reid takes on Helen, and Erebi Nyenkan, Reid Soltis, Wren Watland, and Casper Gessell round out the company, with Gessell also playing Roy, Mark, Pete, and Bobby Jeremy. The show runs 100 minutes with no intermission and is recommended for ages 13 and up.
