Free Friends Lecture, the monthly speaker series of the Minneapolis Institute of Art, with artist Lalla Essaydi in the Pillsbury Auditorium.
Lalla Essaydi is coming to the Minneapolis Institute of Art for a talk on Thursday, May 13, 2027, from 11 AM to 12 PM. It's held in the Pillsbury Auditorium, at 2400 Third Avenue South, so it's right in the heart of the museum.
Essaydi's talk is part of the Friends Lecture, the museum's monthly series that brings in local, national, and international speakers. The whole thing is presented by the Friends of the Institute, which is one of the oldest and most active museum volunteer organizations in the country. They've been around since 1922, and since then, their proceeds have gone toward artwork acquisition and conservation, youth and adult education, and the museum's upkeep, renovation, and expansion. Among their signature programs is Art in Bloom, the springtime floral festival, and their members stay connected through a Friends Book Club and volunteering.
If you're not already familiar with the Friends, they're the group behind the series, and this lecture is one of the ways they bring people into the museum's programming. It's a morning slot, so it works if you're around the city during the day rather than waiting for an evening event.
