A string quartet performs Drake's biggest hits in a candlelight tribute at the Granada Theater.
Candlelight: Tribute to Drake comes to the Granada Theater on Friday, October 16, with the Listeso String Quartet taking on a setlist of Drake's music. The whole thing is organized by Coalition Productions, and as the name suggests, the room will be lit by thousands of candles while the quartet plays.
It's a tribute, not a performance by the artist himself, so the focus is on the string arrangements of his songs. The setlist covers a good stretch of his catalog: 'Passionfruit', 'Marvins Room', 'Teenage Fever', 'Headlines', 'Take Care', 'Laugh Now Cry Later', 'God's Plan', 'Controlla', 'Fair Trade', 'Crew Love', 'Over', 'In My Feelings', 'One Dance' and 'Hold On, We're Going Home'. That's fourteen songs in about an hour, so the quartet will be moving through them pretty quickly.
The venue is the Granada Theater at 3022 Hennepin Ave S in Uptown Minneapolis. It started as a silent film theater in the 1920s and still keeps its Spanish-Revival architecture. These days it's a spot for live music, micro-shows and album releases in a boutique setting, with top-of-the-line acoustics and full wheelchair accessibility. The theater also runs dinner theater and chef events out of its Uptown Lobby Bar and Restaurant.
