A candlelit tribute concert by the Listeso String Quartet playing Queen and ABBA hits at the McNamara Alumni Center.
Listeso String Quartet takes the stage at the McNamara Alumni Center on Sunday, October 18, for a Candlelight concert that pits Queen against ABBA. It's a tribute show, not a performance by the bands themselves, and the whole thing is played under candlelight rather than a stage rig. The quartet covers the hits from both, and the set is split between the two: from ABBA, they're planning 'Dancing Queen', 'S.O.S.', 'Money Money Money', 'Waterloo' and 'Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!'; from Queen, 'Bohemian Rhapsody', 'I Want to Break Free', 'Killer Queen', 'Don't Stop Me Now', 'We Will Rock You' and 'We Are the Champions'.
The venue is the McNamara Alumni Center, located at 200 SE Oak St on the University of Minnesota campus. It opened in 2000 and holds 1,530 people, with architecture by Antoine Predock that draws on Minnesota's landscape of wood, water and copper. The building is known for its soaring Memorial Hall and a geode-like exterior, and it's a good distance from the noise of the city center.
