Candlelight concert in which the Listeso String Quartet plays Queen and ABBA hits by candlelight at the Granada Theatre.
Candlelight: Queen vs. ABBA comes to the Granada Theatre on Saturday, January 23, 2027. It's a tribute concert where a string quartet plays hits from Queen and ABBA under the glow of hundreds of candles surrounding the audience, all set against the glitter, velour, and hairspray of the 1970s. The Listeso String Quartet is the ensemble on hand, and they're working from a tentative program that pulls from both catalogs: 'Dancing Queen', 'SOS', 'Money Money Money', and 'Voulez Vous' from ABBA, and 'Bohemian Rhapsody', 'I Want to Break Free', 'Killer Queen', 'Don't Stop Me Now', 'We Will Rock You', and 'We Are the Champions' from Queen.
It's a tribute experience, not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the artists, their estates, or official representatives. The two bands it draws from come from very different corners of the 70s. Queen formed in London in 1970 and became known for theatrical stylings and a hard rock sound, later celebrated through a hit West End musical and a film starring Rami Malek. ABBA were among the most successful pop groups of all time, the first Swedish winners of the Eurovision Song Contest, and the source of the hit 'Mamma Mia'.

The venue is the Granada Theatre at 3022 Hennepin Ave in Uptown, a 600-capacity historic music venue built in 1928 as an atmospheric movie palace in the Spanish Churrigueresque style. Its curved ceiling projects stars and clouds to evoke the feeling of an outdoor Spanish garden, which fits the candlelight setup. The show starts at 6:30 PM, and tickets start at $75.
