Candlelight: The Best of Hans Zimmer

Candlelight: The Best of Hans Zimmer comes to the Granada Theater on Friday, December 5, 2026. It's a tribute concert, not affiliated with Zimmer himself, and it's performed by the Listeso String Quartet. The program is a run through Zimmer's biggest scores. That's a lot of ground for one night—everything from the heavy brass of The Dark Knight and Pirates to the more atmospheric work on Interstellar and Dune—all played on strings. If you've spent years listening to these on a soundtrack, hearing them stripped back to a quartet is a different way into them.

The venue is part of the draw. The Granada Theater is a historic spot in Uptown, built in 1928 as an atmospheric movie palace in the Spanish Churrigueresque style. It holds 600 people, and the curved ceiling is designed to project stars and clouds, meant to evoke an outdoor Spanish garden. Between the candlelight and the ceiling, it's a room that does a lot of the heavy lifting for the atmosphere.

Practical details: the show runs from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM, so it's a tight hour. Doors open 30 minutes before. Seating is first-come, first-served within each zone, so if you have a preference, you'll want to get there early. It's recommended for ages 8 and up, and anyone under 16 needs to be accompanied by an adult. Tickets run from $54 to $78.
